Post an Entry using E-Mail

If your discussion-forum manager enabled this feature and completed the necessary setup tasks, you can post discussion topics or replies by sending e-mail to a dedicated e-mail account. Forum takes e-mail from the account and places the contents in the discussion forum.

To post discussion topics by e-mail to a discussion forum:

  1. Use your e-mail program to compose a message.
  2. Send the message to the e-mail account specified by your manager.
  3. In the "Subject" line, enter text that you want to appear as the title of the discussion topic.
  4. In the body of the e-mail message, enter text that you want to appear in the body of the discussion topic.
  5. If you have files that you want attached to the topic you are posting, attach them to the e-mail message.
  6. Send the e-mail message.

To e-mail a reply to a discussion topic:

  1. Enable e-mail notifications for the discussion forum.
  2. When viewing an e-mail notification from the discussion forum, view the body of the message, then click on the link following the words "Click to reply in the Forum."

    A "reply" e-mail form appears.

  3. In the Subject line of the form, replace the text "Put your subject here" with the text you want to appear as the title of the reply.
    Note: Do not change any other text in the Subject line. The Subject line includes a docid (a document ID code) that allows Forum to post the reply properly.
  4. Enter the text of the reply in the body of the e-mail message.
  5. If you have files that you want attached to the reply you are posting, attach them to the e-mail message.
  6. Send the e-mail message.
